In the classic film Groundhog Day, cynical weatherman Phil Connors finds himself stuck in a time loop, fated to relive February 2 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania over and over again. Despite his initial decision to spend his days (or day, rather) recklessly, Phil soon begins to change his behavior, discovering that the key to escaping his predicament is acting for others. No matter how small, each task done genuinely and for the greater good has a positive impact on one’s daily life.
How does this relate to what we do at STA? Our mission to advocate for the markets, much like February 2 for Phil, is constant. However, we certainly don’t see the same market conditions for long – things often do change every day. We at STA observe and adapt to changes that may arise from SEC rulemaking, new legislation, emerging technology, and more. Through it all, we remain a steadfast industry resource, and we remain committed to acting for you – our members, and market participants across the country. We pride ourselves on our expertise and ability to keep doing what needs to be done for the benefit of our members and the wider industry. Sometimes repetition isn’t so bad.
