In October 2018 FINRA streamlined the qualification exams for occupations in the financial services industry. The traditional Series 7 license has been replaced with FINRA’s Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam plus a “top-off” exam.
The SIE is open to anyone aged 18 or older and association with, or sponsorship by, a broker dealer is not required. Which means, a college student home for the holidays, could study and take the exam before returning to school in the spring!
