The Influence of Jake Bugg

The Influence of Jake Bugg

This past Friday evening 19 year old musician, Jake Bugg played before a sold out crowd at Terminal 6 in New York City. Jake Bugg (born Jake Edwin Kennedy) is an English musician, singer and song writer. This talented performer who credits such music legends as Don McLean, Neil Young, Johnny Cash and the Beatles as major influencers in his work already has three successful albums which serve as a good indication he will not be a one hit wonder.

In the past we’ve discussed the importance of being a mentor. We’ve highlighted that being a true mentor requires time and commitment; two things which are hard to come by. But does that mean that we as individuals should give up being a positive influence in someone’s life? Absolutely, not. Like it or not, our actions and inactions influence those around us and we need to be cognizant of that. Especially when it comes to those younger, more impressionable co-workers who are our industry’s “Jake Buggs”. It is so important that we conduct ourselves with integrity, taking pride in our work and personal lives. The result of such actions will yield great rewards not just for ourselves but for those around us. So, if mentoring did not make it onto your list of 2014 resolutions, it’s not too late to put on, “being a positive influence on those around me”.

We realize the year is long and that you’ll face challenges to this mantra. So to help you through those difficult moments, here is a link to Jake Bugg’s video titled after his biggest hit, “Lightening Bolt” LINK . The video has over 8 million views, which illustrates that this kid is already returning the positive influences instilled in him by those before.
